Katherine is the Planetarium Manager of Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach, NC. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in science literacy and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in STEAM. She is now a PhD candidate in Instructional Technology. Katherine’s Introduction to Astronomy is based on the model used during her teaching assistantship for a college astronomy class for non-science majors at Coastal Carolina University. It focuses on observation, real world connections, science in society, and critical thinking. She has adapted the content for younger learners and to fit NGS Standards for those ages.

Miss Kat’s favorite planet is Neptune, and her favorite constellation is not a constellation at all but two stars in the Summer Triangle asterism called Vega and Altair because they correspond with the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi from Japan. In addition to Astronomy, Katherine enjoys digital art and origami.
